IOS 18 is Launching Soon With Tons of AI Integrated Features
Apple is preparing for its annual developer conference, WWDC 2024, next month. In this event, the company is going to announce the most important updates of the upcoming IOS 18 update and new gadgets. IOS 18 is Launching Soon on 10 June. The anticipation of the next smartphone in the line is inevitable, but this time the company is expected to bring the next generation iOS update – iOS 18. This year this event will take place from June 10 to June 14, 2024.
Before the official event at WWDC, Apple has already teased several innovative features of iOS 18, like eye-tracking technology, music haptics, and generative AI. Here is everything we expect from the latest IOS 18 update.
Generative AI powers
The release of iOS 18 will introduce on-device AI features to all Apple devices. On-device AI features could include auto-generated playlists on Apple Music and AI-powered writing assistance in Pages and Keynote. It is worth noting that AI features will not depend on cloud servers but will directly power the device.
The applications that are expected to be powered by AI are the Notes app, Photos, Apple Music, and of course the iOS assistant Siri.
The Notes app is likely to feature generative suggestions and editing skills that are powered by on-device Large Language Models (LLMs). Next, the Photos app is also expected to get some AI-supported editing powers. These powers could be similar to those provided by Google to Pixels which can alter the image by erasing unwanted ones.
Siri is also likely to get an AI makeover that will further improve its capabilities.
Eye tracking
This feature was first seen in the Apple Vision Pro, Apple is also bringing its eye-tracking technology to iPhones and iPads. By removing touch input, users will be able to navigate the screen using only their eyes. The device will use the front camera and on-device machine learning to navigate through this feature. Users will simply hold their gaze and select elements on the screen.
Vehicle Motion Cues
This is another notable feature that is expected to launch at WWDC 2024. Many of us, get motion sickness while watching screens while traveling. The main objective of this feature is to reduce motion sickness for passengers. This feature is designed in such a way that the screen will mimic the movement of the vehicle. How can this be possible? Animated dots will appear on the sides of the screen to reduce sensory conflict.
Music Haptics
Apple is also set to launch a music-haptic feature for users who are hard of hearing or have lost their ability to hear. Using this feature, the device can translate many songs on Apple Music into taps, textures, and vibrations. This feature helps people experience music in a different way.
Apple follows the pattern of releasing every new version of iOS during the September event, which mostly coincides with the launch of new devices and the latest new iPhones. During WWDC 2024 in July, the tech giant is expected to announce iOS 18 and make it available for beta testing by developers, and for the public, it will be released later.
